YWCA Grand Island was organized in 1912. Through our 100+ year history, we have been a part of incredible change and opportunity. In 1933, gym classes for the unemployed were started. 10 years later, we helped develop the City recreation program.  Nearly a half century ago, dance classes started at the YWCA, followed by preschool a year later and an after school program a decade later.

Today, many of these opportunities still exist at YWCA Grand Island. We serve the community through childcare, which includes free preschool and Spanish classes for ages 3-5, and girls empowerment programs. YWCA fights for social justice and continued change through our Stand Against Racism campaign.

Partnering, collaborating, and offering a safe space to meet is another way YWCA Grand Island impacts our community. Dance classes, parenting classes, Caregivers group, and PFLAG are just a few examples of activities and meetings happening at YWCA Grand Island.
