My name is Alan. I live in State College, Pennsylvania, and I love Lego building. Getting into this hobby began after watching season 1 of Lego Masters and escalated during the pandemic lockdown. I own approximately 60 sets and am converting my basement into a brick studio to display my creations.

Throughout my career, I have been with the university on and off for about 9 years. I am currently the Associate Director of Alumni Relations for the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State but I began my career in the State College special event industry and owned an event coordinating business called Above the Best. Above the Best focused on wedding coordination and I especially enjoyed planning birthday celebrations and corporate events. My transition to Alumni Relations was natural as it was the perfect intersection of event planning and volunteer management. It has been an interesting last couple of years while the world discovered how to provide hybrid events. The challenge was quite exciting and allowed me to get creative with programming.
