About Friends of the Children - Colorado Springs:

Friends of the Children - Colorado Springs is part of a national network of Friends of the Children chapters across the United States. Friends of the Children connects children facing complex trauma – all of whom have unique talents – to a paid, professional mentor called a Friend. We hire and train Friends whose full-time jobs are to support our children to succeed, despite the extremely challenging situations most experience, bringing them in from age 4-6 and staying with them through high school graduation – 12+ years, no matter what.

Where does the money go?

Every donation goes to support children who depend on the sense of belonging nurtured by their dedicated Friend.

• $20 provides arts and crafts supplies for children to express their creativity in a safe space with their Friend
• $50 stocks our Clubhouse pantry with healthy after school snack options for children who might otherwise go hungry
• $100 sponsors a mentorship activity that can help children find their spark through new experiences with their Friend
• $250 supports extra resources for building up children's math and literacy skills: critical building blocks for their future success
• $500 sustains children and their families when emergency needs arise
• $5,000 supports one full year of a child’s relationship with their Friend
