ABOUT Eastern Dominican Christian Mission :
Eastern Dominican Christian Mission (EDCM) exists to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ by making disciples and forming those disciples into congregations. Since the founding of the mission in 2003, EDCM has had a goal of planting churches and helping lead those churches to self-sufficiency. This goal is accomplished primarily by two words: Equip and Empower.
MORE ABOUT OUR CAUSE:
Take a moment and imagine that you need medicine such as diabetes medication, Ibuprofen or even cough medicine for your average cold. Many of you would hop in your car and drive to the nearest Walgreens and purchase what you needed without even thinking twice. Now imagine the closest Walgreens was a 15 minute drive but you don’t have a car. Imagine you barely had enough money to cover the medicine let alone pay for transportation to the store. You may have to walk an hour and a half one way to meet your basic medical needs.
This is the reality for many of the residents of the community of Brisas del Mar. Residents have limited access to basic medical care and medications. In order to get to the nearest clinic or pharmacy, they would have to take public transportation, which the majority of them cannot afford. Many had never seen a doctor when Dr. Euri Fabian began to offer medical consults in a rented room in their community.
Over the past seven years, Dr. Fabian and his team have offered makeshift community clinics to meet the medical needs of this village. Currently they have a small office set up in the church building. EDCM feels God’s call to build a medical facility and expand our outreach even further.
A variety of services will be available to the people of this community through the new facility. Family Practice, OBGYN, Vision, and Dental consultations will be among the specialties included. The medical clinic will be located on the same property as the church and water filtration plant of EDCM. The doctors will work hand in hand with the pastor to cater to not only the physical needs, but also the spiritual needs of the community.
