Being in my ninth decade of life gives me a certain perspective on aging. I'm fortunate to be living comfortably in retirement, connected to friends and family, wanting for nothing. But many people in their "golden years" are less fortunate. Whether it's limitations on income, health, or mobility, their live are more constrained.
That's where Senior Services for South Sound comes in. This nonprofit agency is committed to improving the lives of seniors in our community. The broad range of services is remarkable. Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver not only nourishing meals to homebound seniors, but also the warmth of human contact. The Brighter Days adult program provides both stimulating activities for those with dementia - and hours of respite for overburdened caregivers. The Transportation Program gives seniors living in rural areas of our region vital access to medical and other appointments. Those are just a few examples of the wide range of benefits offered by Senior Services.
The Over the Edge event is intended to be a lighthearted way to support a critically important service to our community. I hope you'll give what you can to this effort. Thanks in advance for your kind support.

Our first rappellers descend at noon. Come watch as our brave rappellers prove that when it comes to service above self, there is no age limit!
- Rappellers will descend the WA State Gambling Commission Building into Huntamer Park from noon until about 2:30.
- Enjoy food and refreshments from vendors including VFW Post 11402 and Kona Shaved Ice.
- Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for maximum comfort while you cheer folks on.

Can I still register?
Yes! Register online today for a $75 registration fee. You'll need to raise an additional $925 to hit your $1,000 goal and rappel. Alternately, bring a check for $1,000 to the event and we'll sign you up on the spot!
I want to come see a particular rappeller. Can I find out their time?
All rappellers have been assigned a check-in time and will rappel about an hour after that time, give or take 20 minutes. Ask them when their check-in time is so you know when to get there!
If I donate, what am I supporting?
All donations to support this event will go to Senior Services for South Sound, supporting our greatest need. Senior Services for South Sound has been dedicated to supporting seniors in our community for more than 50 years. We operate senior centers in Olympia and Lacey that provide programs, services and activities for ALL seniors, those who are thriving and those who need a helping hand. Each year, we feed thousands of seniors through community dining and Meals on Wheels. We envision a South Sound where people are empowered and engaged in the community as they age, valued for their wisdom and experience, and have a positive sense of self-worth.
