Why are we going Over the Edge for CASA Kids?

Because, NOW, more than ever, kids are hurting and they need our help!

CASA provides children who have been removed from the home, due to abuse or neglect, with a volunteer CASA volunteer to serve as their mentor and voice in court as the most loving and permanent home is determined – as quickly as possible! CASA has an increasingly critical role to ensure eyes are on our kids , especially as families experience the secondary impacts of COVID-19 – job loss, depression, suicide, drug and substance abuse.

Reports from COVID months already show a 20 percent increase in child physical abuse cases and 61 percent increase in infant cases with prenatal drug exposure. Your support helps us recruit additional volunteers to protect Pueblo’s most vulnerable children.  With remote learning now at play, keeping eyes on our kids is more imporant than ever before!  Align your dollars with a cause that's making the difference in the life of a child - donate, or take the exciting leap as a featured community rappeler!

Why are we going Over the Edge for CASA Kids?

We face our fears and "Go Over the Edge" to help bring awareness and educate the public about the fears and challenges faced by our youth everyday.  Our CASA kids come to us having experienced major trauma in their life - trauma that is unimaginable to most.   Many have witnessed or experienced physical and sexual abuse; some have lost parents to drugs and addictions;  many are homeless, having moved home to home with a wandering parent.  Any fears we have about "Going Over the Edge" simply face when we think of hte stories of our CASA youth.  Help us "Change a Child's Story" and face your fears!

More About CASA of Pueblo:

CASA of Pueblo serves children ranging in age from 0-18 involved in Dependency and Neglect court actions because of allegations of abuse and/or neglect. CASA volunteers have to be specially trained to identify safety and risk factors that lead to child abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers work with children who have special needs or disabilities and are also trained in the areas of cultural competence and working with families who have elements of substance abuse, domestic violence, poverty, etcCASA is a vital program making an impact in reducing child abuse and neglect in our communities and helping to move children out of the system and into safe permanent homes faster and with fewer foster placements. It has been established that the intervention of a support system or support individual can make the difference in the life of the child and affect positive change for the future.
