On April 25, 2025, I’ll proudly rappel down the Medical Arts Building in downtown Fayetteville during United Way of Cumberland County’s Over the Edge event, thanks to the incredible sponsorship of Dr. Wes and Lucy Jones.

I’m not just doing this for the thrill—I’m doing it for the mission. United Way of Cumberland County works tirelessly to create lasting change by addressing the root causes of challenges in our community. Through partnerships with local nonprofit agencies, UWCC funds programs that target education, health, financial stability, and basic critical needs.

With the support of local businesses, organizations, and individuals, UWCC raises the funds that power these programs. Community donations are carefully allocated by local volunteers to programs best suited to meet our community’s needs. This ensures that every contribution makes a meaningful impact.

For example, UWCC supports education programs that help children succeed from kindergarten to college and beyond, as well as initiatives that build strong youth, families, and adults in Cumberland County. Its health programs provide access to care and wellness education, empowering individuals to prevent and manage chronic illnesses. Additionally, basic needs and financial stability programs ensure people can access food, safe shelter, and financial resources to thrive.
