As the Executive Director at EPIC -Every Person Influences Children, I see firsthand the impact the United Way and Oishei Children's Hospital have on our community. Like EPIC, they are a part of the network of support that contribute to the success of families, and ultimately our community.
As you may know, both agencies are close to my heart on a professional and personal level. Dr. Veetai Li, a pediatric neurosurgeon, saved my son's life when he was 3. The staff - particularly the nurses - were a lifeline during the most traumatic experience of our lives.
The United Way is a strong supporter of EPIC and the work we do in the community. They fund 4 programs of ours, providing families with parenting, literacy, engagement and advocacy skills to support their child's development and well-being. The United Way is a solid example of quality partnership between the business and nonprofit communities.
As a community, we are lucky to have them both.
Supporting these two agencies was the easy part. Stepping off the edge is going to be more challenging, but I am excited to participate in this great way to celebrate and support two great partners of ours.
