Hi there! I'm Pam Gregory, President/CEO, of United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore (UWLES). I've worked here for over 13 years and have been a donor since the 1990's. I believe in our work and the power EVERYONE in our community has to make a difference. A smile & act of kindness. A dollar. An hour. It ALL adds up.
I need your help to go Over the Edge for ALICE. Help us reach our total event goal of $80,000 (for our 80th Anniversary!) and I WILL RAPPEL, TOO!
We have an amazing community made of people who want to help others. We see it every day. But we and our 35+ community partners also see the needs rising each day. Neighbors who have never had to ask for help before - our ALICE community - are needing support, too.
We're celebrating 80 years of LOCAL IMPACT right here on the Lower Shore (yup, we became a nonprofit in Oct. 1944 in Wicomico county!). Our founders knew it takes people joining together however they can to make a difference, and that's more true than ever today.
So together, we can help. When we provide more access to health & wellness, education and financial security resources, more families become stable, and our community becomes stronger for us all.

Who are you going Over the Edge for?
We all know ALICE®. More than 2 in 5 local households are ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). Our ALICE® neighbors work hard but still struggle to meet basic needs. ALICE® lives paycheck to paycheck, making tough choices each month between safe housing, food, childcare, medicine and other essentials. Just one emergency can cause a financial tailspin (injured and out of work? childcare closes? car breaks down?...). ALICE® is in nearly every workplace, classroom and neighborhood. UWLES and our partners work every day to help ALICE® and all neighbors access resources to help them move from barely surviving to thriving. ALICE® lives on the edge, so we’re going Over the Edge for ALICE®! |
