I’m ABC 7 morning and midday Meteorologist Alyssa Pawlak and I am *thrilled* to have the opportunity to go Over the Edge for Family Support Services for a second straight year. I consider myself very fortunate to be in a position to share my passion for the weather with the Panhandle and to also have a platform to bring awareness to causes that matter.
Family Support Services is an incredible non-profit organization that I have grown to know and love. The amount of people they help and the services they provide go on and on…and it’s all here to benefit OUR community!
If you’re not familiar with FSS, here’s a brief rundown:
Family Support Services serves 25,000 people per year right here in the Panhandle. They aid a wide variety of people including survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. They provide services to veterans in their Veteran Resource Center and offer educational programs & training focusing on dating violence prevention, bullying, teen suicide prevention, among many other things.
Our Over the Edge event is going to be even BIGGER and BETTER than last year and I can’t wait to share the excitement with all of you. Before I’m strapped into my harness and hanging off the side of the Santa Fe Building, though, I have some serious work to do…and this is where I need your help!
I am working toward my goal of raising at least $1000 for Family Support Services. You all stepped up for me in such a big way last year and I’m asking for your kindness, generosity and panhandle spirit again to allow FSS to keep doing the amazing work they do.
I am SO appreciative of any and all donations and I thank you for your encouragement and support. I’m so proud to be a part of this exciting community event to benefit an incredible organization and I hope you can all come out and enjoy the activities in downtown Amarillo on Saturday, June 15th!

For more than a century, Family Support Services has helped people in crisis, worked to end family violence, and offered healing behavioral health services to those who are suffering.
FSS serves more than 25,000 people each year, including victims of sexual assault, family violence, and human trafficking; at-risk children, families, and individuals; people in need of individual, group, marital, and family counseling; and veterans, family members of veterans, and surviving spouses.

Family Support Services places an emphasis on helping Amarillo and Texas Panhandle residents, especially during times of crisis or family turmoil. We are governed by a community volunteer board and trace our roots back to 1908 and the beginning of social services in Amarillo.
We provide integrated services in a continuum of care to meet the diverse needs of our clients, regardless of their ability to pay. The population served includes individuals in the Panhandle region, although most of our clients reside in Amarillo and Canyon.
