Janet Chambers, a breast cancer survivor, is the heart behind the I Have Wings Breast Cancer Foundation. Diagnosed with stage II breast cancer on her 40th birthday, Janet turned her personal battle into a mission to empower others. Today, she remains deeply committed to her health and to teaching others how to thrive through adversity. As an inspirational speaker and author of Thrive in Five -N- 5, a five-week healing devotional, Janet shares her journey of faith, healing, and resilience.
After experiencing firsthand the emotional and financial toll of cancer, Janet recognized a gap in our local community support for women facing this disease. In 2001, her efforts were nationally recognized when she was chosen as a Hero by Lifetime Network. She and her husband were flown to Los Angeles to celebrate her contributions and survivorship. Inspired by her journey and determined to make a difference, Janet founded the I Have Wings Breast Cancer Foundation the following year.
Janet knows that a cancer diagnosis doesn’t just affect the patient—it impacts the entire family. The family dynamic is often disrupted, and unexpected needs arise. For children, seeing their caregiver—their anchor—grappling with something beyond their control can lead to emotional and academic struggles. I Have Wings steps in during these critical moments to ease that burden.
They serve women from all walks of life, providing support without barriers. Whether it’s prostheses, lymphedema compression sleeves, wigs, groceries, gas, or other essentials, I Have Wings is there—without red tape or delays. Thanks to your support, they continue to offer tangible relief and emotional encouragement to families navigating breast cancer.
