I am rappelling down the Overland Park Marriott to help local survivors of sex trafficking, but I need your help!

I first heard about human trafficking in high school. Once a year I would join the End It Movement and draw a red x on my hand in effort to raise awareness about the issue. I knew it was a serious problem but still viewed it as a global issue, something America didn't have to deal with. 

During my freshmen year of college, I was struck with the disgusting reality that not only is sex trafficking an issue in the U.S. but it is a HUGE and devastating reality in my beloved hometown, Kansas City. This broke down the fantasy I had built about the world and immediately I became obsessed with understanding the problem and finding a solution. Every time I got out of class, I ran back to my dorm and researched the issue, to the point that it consumed me.

How could slavery still be so evident in the United States, and no one was talking about it?

That's when I found ReHope, formerly Restoration House. While back in Kansas City for the holidays, I attended one of their conferences and was overwhelmed with hope; I had finally found the helpers.

ReHope offers comprehensive care by providing survivors with a place to live, healthcare, education, jobs, and so much more. They partner with local authorities and other organizations to prevent people from being trafficked while providing phenomenal care to those who have survived. 

Human trafficking is a global issue, but more importantly, it is a local issue. Because traffickers are usually people close to their victims (family members, friends, spouses) the crime easily slips under the radar. Kansas City has seen such an increase in sex trafficking cases, ReHope is expanding so that they can help those seeking safety.

Please donate and help ReHope raise the funds needed to build tiny homes for sex trafficking survivors as their final step before graduating from their program, and re-entering the real world after receiving the care they need.
